Grappling with the urgent need to stop the violence around us requires that we understand more about the elements of violence and how they lead us to strategies for preventing it. Dr. Scoresby talks about common ingredients in all acts of violence: 1) intention, 2) an active perpetrator, 3) a victim or victims, 4) the context or situation in which it occurs, and 5) a culture that tolerates violence instead of cultivating nonviolence. Included are several examples for parents and children.
